Tor-riffic!

Climbed Glastonbury Tor yesterday on a most glorious of days. Looking out towards Pilton with the sun throwing a haze over the festival site yo could be forgiven for thinking festival time was here.

We walked up past the old reservoir which was open and inside, with candles providing minimal illumination and someone singing a plaintiff chant against the water spashing into the floor, it was otherworldy. Of course I thought it was 'piped' music and stumbling around in the near-pitch darkness I was just about to ask the chantreuse if I could get a little nearer to the source of the water when something stopped me. It must have been my inner me stopping me from making a fool of myself!

Outside, the water flows down the road but we headed on up, turning into the field about two thirds of the way up the hill. The towers above as you head across to join the steps that take you up to the top. It's steep! My burning calves stand testament to it but the view from the top is worth it. The Somerset landscape recedes into the distance like a green sea.
